IT'S NATIONAL SCRABBLE DAY!!!!!!!!!
Dyslexia is a bit like having a second personality. I can be going merrily along my way when it just strikes out of nowhere! I go from being a rational, logical, seemingly normal person to a complete silly goose. It used to bother me - but I'm so used to it now - I've embraced it and I think it's funny! These are the moments that make me unique. A person who does not have dyslexia would never follow the same trail of thought that I do... never!
When I saw what the wacky holiday was for today, I did not read "Scrabble", but "Scramble". Oh my.
Actually, the two are not that different as far as I'm concerned. When I play Scrabble it is a lot like scramble because for me to try to make sense of a pile of letters is like asking me to write my name in Chinese. Yeah - no, that's not happening either.
My brain may be a a little short-circuited, but my sense of humor is alive and well. Hey, if I can't laugh at myself, it's going to be a long life!
I actually like to play Scrabble and it's because I have worked so hard through the years to overcome or at least live better with dyslexia. I enjoy a challenge where words are concerned. I would much rather play a word game any day than a game with numbers, such as Yahtzee. Dice make me crazy and I still transpose numbers terribly. I don't care much for dominoes either.
My friends were teasing me about turning 25 years old this year. I turned 52, but they told me I'd probably try to transpose the numbers, knowing me. I think they know me a little too well!
I challenge you today to take a moment to laugh at yourself. You may as well embrace all the little quirks that make you a unique individual. Besides, we all know that laughter is indeed - the BEST medicine!
Have a very HAPPY NATIONAL SCRABBLE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, by the way, if you include eight-letter "bingos" that use all seven letters on the rack plus a letter already on the board, then WHIZBANG, QUETZALS, and HIGHJACK score 374 points for a single play if the highest-point tile is on a light blue square and both the first and last letters are on red squares.
Let the game begin!!!

There has been many times I misread something, getting words or letters backwards. There has been a few times I turn that into a poem. Here is one of those times:
ReplyDeleteI misread keep me in your prayers
Meet Him in Your Prayers
Are you looking for direction,
Someone to be your guide?
Meet God in your prayers tonight.
He's always by your side.
Does happiness seem impossible?
You think you cannot cope.
Meet God in your prayers tonight.
He will give you hope.
Are you looking for life's answers?
Are you looking for some peace?
Meet God in your prayers tonight.
He will meet your needs.
Are you looking for a loving friend,
Someone to see you through?
Meet God in your prayers tonight.
He's always there for you.
Do you need someone to hold your hand
Before you come apart? Meet God in your prayers tonight.
He will hug your heart.
He's waiting.
