LIFE IS BETTER WHEN YOU'RE LAUGHING!!!
Laughter is the best medicine for so many reasons. Endorphins are instantly released and boost mood better than any anti-depressant on the market! When you laugh, your blood pressure lowers because you relax inside. A person who does not take life, or themselves, too seriously is a healthier individual and a person that others enjoy being around. That sounds like a real win/win to me!
I learned how to be a morning person from my dear daddy. Oh, he had a master's degree in morning manners! So many people drag out of bed and stumble to the coffee pot and make everyone in their path miserable in the process. Not my dad! Nope! He bounced out of bed whistling and skipped to the coffee pot and had a cheery "good morning" for everyone along the way. I loved him for that! I wanted to be just like him. I still do!!!
He had a real zest for living and you could almost see Carpe Diem written across his broad chest. Seize the day! Pluck the day like fragile petals from a daisy. Indeed, he was an early bird, and he knew exactly how to get the worm. He enjoyed his work and he worked hard. He loved his family, and he was a success in his life! What an example he set before me. This is what love really looks like. This is how life is to be lived. This is what happiness is. Those are priceless lessons that some people never learn!
You grow up the day you have your first real laugh-----at yourself.
- Ethel Barrymore
Love is an inside job. Daddy walked humbly with his God and never met a stranger in his life. He dealt fairly with absolutely everyone and never asked more of anyone than he would or could do himself. He never used anyone for his own personal gain and to my knowledge never lied to get ahead. Thank you daddy for all the invaluable lessons you taught me. I will remember.
One of the shows we watched as a family on Saturday nights was "The Carol Burnett Show". There were times when daddy would get to laughing so hard he would turn beet red and tears would roll down his face. Yet today when I close my eyes I can see and hear him laughing and it does my heart good.
Without a good sense of humor I don't think I would have gotten through some stages in life. In the early 1980's when we suffered so many miscarriages, that was a rough patch to be sure. It's my faith in God and my dad's lesson in laughter that pulled me from a certain bout with depression. Once again, my two Dads took care of me! My heavenly Father and my earthly father!
What a rare gift I was given. How many morning people do you know? Are you a morning person? You can be, you know - if you want to be. It's a matter of getting to bed at a good hour the night before and it's a matter of attitude for the most part.
Opposites attract - but sometimes not in the morning. I am a morning person! I get up and brightly greet the day. I talk to the sun and the birds. I talk to my dog. I do not, however, under any circumstances talk to my significant other. No. He's not a morning person and at this stage in the game will never be. I fly well under the radar and quietly get my coffee and wait until I'm out of earshot to begin whistling. About halfway down the stairs I begin to whistle. When I'm sure nobody can hear me, sometimes I start singing.
I am my father's daughter to be sure! I do not apologize for that nor do I feel the need to. His is the example that was set before me. I feel that he smiles down on me every morning when I bound from the bed in good humor.
I think both my earthly father and heavenly Father are pleased with the morning person I've become.
Take a moment to laugh today. If there is someone in your life who has influenced your good humor, give them a call and let them know you appreciate it. Enjoy that person while you can - because all too soon the people who mean the most to us are suddenly not there anymore.
